An Overnight Success DOESN’T Take 🔟 Years! It Takes Numbers Instead

time things will get better.”

How many of us have heard that before?

Of course, almost all of us.

But how true is that? Is it really true that things get better with time?

I thought things get better with time… but I was wrong.

Maybe you thought so too.

Well, we are both wrong. Even if everyone thinks so it doesn’t still mean it’s true.

Why do I say so?

For the past 6 years, I have been a pianist. I started playing in 2013.

There’s also a friend of mine who started playing in 2016.

Who do you think should be better?

Yes, it’s supposed to be me. If all things being equal.

But has all things ever been equal?

Now he’s about 10 times better than I’m on piano.

That’s interesting.

Here’s the simple thing that caused that:

He learned how to maximize the unfair advantage of success.

In case you didn’t know before, there are two advantages to success.

One is fair the other is unfair.

What makes it fair or unfair is if it can be influenced.

Time is a fair advantage. You can’t influence it. You can’t make it longer than 24 hours.

But there’s an unfair advantage of numbers. You can influence this.

You can influence how many times you practice in a day. You can influence how many songs and notes and chords you practice in a day. You can influence how many music lessons you take in a year.

That you can determine and influence.

That’s the unfair advantage of numbers.

So if you measure success in time, you’ll be wrong. The best metric of success is not time; it’s number.

For young writers, the best among you will not be the one who’s been there a long time but the one who has written the most.

Indeed, success in whatever endeavor is a numbers game. Not time. But numbers.

everyone has been given two advantages to be successful.

One is fair the other is unfair.

But choose this day where your efforts and focus will be.

For me, I choose the unfair advantage of numbers.

I will write 3 drafts today and polish them later and publish them when I deem it fit.

What about you?

How would you maximize your advantages?
